ELDAH is thrilled to announce the workshop “Data Protection in research practice: The GDPR and the ELDAH Consent Form Wizard”, jointly organized with SSHOC – Social Sciences and Humanities Open Cloud.
Participants can join this hybrid workshop on site or online. A limited number of travel grants is available to researcher who cannot receive funding from their institutions.

On 18 May 2021, 2.30 p.m., Vanessa Hannesschläger will give a public lecture at Linnaeus university, Sweden. The lecture entitled “Legal tools for digital humanities research” will deal with processing research data in compliance with European copyright and data privacy law. The event, which will feature – among others – the Consent Form Wizard, takes place on Zoom and is open to all.
In numerous workshops, ELDAH has received rich feedback on the Consent Form Wizard (CFW). While we are proud that people generally find the tool extremely useful, many researchers have voiced the need for a version of the tool in their own language. This makes sense, as the consent forms are often handed out to research subjects who might be alienated or overburdened by signing a consent form in English.
Therefore, we have developed an easy-to-use interface for translating the tool. If you would like to provide your national community with a version of the CFW in your own language, all you need is a translator and a person with legal expertise in your own country to check the legal terminology in your translation.
Please send your expression of interest to translate the CFW to your national language to eldah@dariah.eu until 30 April 2021!

After holding several well-frequented webinars for SSHOC, DARIAH-EU and OpenAire, ELDAH will have a GDPR & CFW workshop on September 1, 2021. Save the date!
The event is currently envisioned in a hybrid format, with virtual and physical attendance, and will be hosted either in Zagreb or Zadar. We will keep you informed about the schedule, the program and the registration procedure and share information on this page as soon as possible.
We hope to organize a live / hybrid ELDAH WG meeting co-located with the event.
ELDAH is looking forward to the virtual DARIAH annual event 2020. The virtual event is stretched out over several weeks, with the core sessions taking place from November 10 to 13, 2020. We are participating with a variety of contributions:
The WG meeting at the annual event took place on October 7, 2020. We discussed the current state of our projects and spoke about future plans for continuing ELDAH‘s successful work.
The workshop “Addressing legal and ethical dimensions of the processing of personal data in research contexts: The ELDAH Consent Wizard as a tool for fostering best practices for consent and transparency in DH” took place in the context of the annual event on October 28, 2020, 10 am CET. The demonstration of the newly launched Consent Form Wizard was at the center of this event.
The CFW will also be presented in a poster at the virtual poster exhibition.
Erzsébet Tóth-Czifra conducted an Interview with ELDAH co-chair Walter Scholger about the ELDAH Consent Form Wizard for the DARIAHopen blog.
